What Are the Symptoms Of Anxiety, and How Is It Treated?

Anxiety can manifest in a variety of ways and can impact your behavior, feelings, and even your physical well-being. Some common symptoms of anxiety include:

  • A sense of impending doom
  • Increased heart rate
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Restlessness
  • Irritability
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Difficulty controlling anxious thoughts
  • Insomnia
  • Chronic pain (such as headaches, stomach aches, chest pain, or muscle aches)

To diagnose anxiety, Dr. Spiegelberg will perform a mental health evaluation. From there, we can create a unique treatment plan to address your anxiety. There are a variety of treatment methods for anxiety so we will work together to find the right treatment plan for you. Some common treatment methods include antidepressants, counseling, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and more. There are also certain lifestyle changes you can make to help reduce your anxiety, including getting plenty of rest, reducing alcohol and caffeine consumption, and developing a good friend group.

I’m incredibly grateful to have found Jessica. From the very beginning, she took the time to truly understand me, diving into both my past and present experiences. Her patience and willingness to listen as I shared my struggles made a huge difference. Jessica provided a diagnosis that finally made me feel understood, and she educated me about it, which helped me realize I’m not alone—others feel this way too. Her calm, well-spoken manner and the cozy atmosphere of her office made it easy to feel comfortable. I also appreciate that she not only prescribed medication but recommended a therapist to support my treatment further. I genuinely look forward to my visits with her as we take the next steps on my journey to better mental health. Highly recommend Jessica to anyone seeking compassionate and insightful care.
